Manuka Honey can decrease antibiotic resistance!

WE know that Manuka honey is being used very successfully in dry eye (see our previous post from November). Ocular bacteria has an enormous role in dry eye and it's progression and I find Optimel Manuka honey eye drops and gel are integral to my dry eye management. But Manuka honey is well documented for use in wound healing, particularly in people who have MRSA (methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus, or 'Golden staph'). Here is some more information on Manuka honey and it's role in managing bacteria, whilst decreasing the risk of resistance. From Rowena Jenkins, Microbiology lecturer at Cardiff Metropolitan University.
